Helderberg Hospice has been asked to provide practical palliative nursing care at our In-Patient Unit to professional nurses doing the Short Course in Palliative Care. Each student must complete 36 hours in a specialist unit and we have hosted two students this month. Martie Abrahams from the Hermanus Rainbow Trust works with those facing life-threatening diseases in the Overstrand area of Kleinmond, Bettys Bay, Hermanus and Mount Pleasant. Gwynette Featherstone is from Napier and while not currently employed by a hospice or palliative care provider, she is keen to upgrade her skills and extend her CV. She had done previous practical work at Breederiver Hospice in Robertson.
